Rethinking Chemical Fuels
In times of ever growing energy consumption former oil and plastic chemists are transforming themselves and their research towards a more sustainable path. Renewabel energies, such as solar energy, can be harvested and stored via artificial photosynthesis. This process can be designed to directly yield a fuel that can drive your car from nothing more than sunlight and water.
Biography
The researcher and lecturer Johann Pann grew up in tyrol and studied in Innsbruck and Uppsala, Sweden. From early ages on his fascination for chemistry showed by brawling whith his brother over the usage of the chemical experiment kit. Quickly the natural science schools were finished and he enrolled to the chemical programme at University of Innsbruck. Already In the second semester he was awarded a position as tutor. During his studies he grew a bigger fascination for photochemistry and catalysis, whose understanding he deepened in a bachelor thesis in Innsbruck and a master thesis in Uppsala. At the Moment Johann Pann is finishing his Doctorate in an EU-funded Programme in the workgroup of Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Brüggeller at the Institute for General, Inorganic and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Innsbruck.
